RWE Americas, LLC To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent Functional area: Operations & Maintenance Remuneration: Non-Exempt As a Wind Farm Technician I, you support the overall operations and maintenance of one or more wind farms and all related facilities to assure safety and maximize availability in accordance with the Operations mission. This role is responsible for the safe execution of scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities, training, and safety exercises. This job also maintains accountability and readiness of plant tools, equipment, and vehicles; provides technical guidance to the O&M team; tracks and maintains records of service activities, both scheduled and unscheduled, through the digital maintenance management system; and helps maintain the work ethic and culture of the plant O&M team. Role Responsibilities: <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ensure that all operation and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm site</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following planned maintenance or outages</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Perform safety and other wind farm-related tasks when assigned and fill in as backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessary</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Assist with turbine maintenance, including services, major component work and replacement, and troubleshooting</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Assist with Balance of Plant procedures as needed, including substation and collection system maintenance</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Adherence to the company’s values and behaviors</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager</li> </ul> Job Requirements and Experiences: <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">A High School Diploma or equivalent is required</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Associate degree in Sciences or related field from an accredited school preferred</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">A minimum of 6 years of work experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission, and/or distribution is required</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Alternatively, a 2-year or 4-year college degree from an accredited school (other than correspondence or online) in a technical science like engineering, physics, power, or closely similar; current journeyman or master electrician license</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">An unrestricted driver's license in good standing is required</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Willing to relocate within a 1-hour drive of the site is required</li> </ul> Physical Requirements: <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.)</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to work within tight deadlines</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned </li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Must be able to perform fine motor tasks, such as screwing or unscrewing nuts and bolts, while reaching around and over objects</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to understand and communicate root causes required</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Good communication skills and must value being part of a team</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Safety- Promote safety for all at all times</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Initiative - Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information</li> </ul> Work Environment: This position is a site-based role with occasional travel. Must possess the ability to climb wind towers regularly. Involves the capability to manipulate hatch doors and recognize potential safety risks. Additionally, the individual should be able to crouch, kneel, or half-kneel for up to 5 minutes to perform maintenance duties in low areas.
