About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Engineering Research Support Office for a Research Impact and Engagement Manager, who will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Engineering's portfolio of world-class research. The Department is the largest in the University which presents exciting opportunities to work with very large academic and research communities. The Research Support Office is a fast paced and dynamic environment, where every day is different. The current team have established a reputation for delivering high workloads and quality of service, implementing process changes and working collaboratively internally and across the university.

The role holder will help deliver and implement the Department's knowledge exchange and engagement strategy with activities including: identifying new industry partners; working with businesses to develop research opportunities; supporting academics in developing and sustaining research impact and knowledge exchange; promoting translation of research outputs into commercial propositions; creating and delivering activities for increasing engagement with industry; providing contractual, commercial and intellectual property management advice and guidance. The role holder will also provide guidance and share best practice with colleagues in impact roles in the School.

The successful candidate will be educated to at degree level or possess an equivalent level of practical experience. You will have excellent interpersonal skills be well versed in liaising with academia and industry, have excellent project management and communication skills and have the desire to drive change, with experience in research grants administration and contract negotiations. The role will suit someone who enjoys working in fast paced environment and enjoys taking the lead.

This role is predominantly office-based on Department premises (both in central and West Cambridge), but with options for flexibility including an element of working from home. The role-holder will be expected to spend around 50% of their time out amongst the Department's six academic divisions, engaging with the relevant research communities.
