Job summary
We areexcited to welcomea Band 6 Perinatal Mental Health Midwife to join our caring maternity team. This role supports women and birthing people with compassion and understanding, helping to providetrauma-informedsupport and ensurejoined-upcare across maternity, perinatal mental health and wider services during pregnancy and the early postnatal period.
You will be joining a supportive and motivated Perinatal Mental Health Midwives team at an important and exciting time in the team's ongoing journey of development and alignment with the national direction of maternityand perinatal mental healthcare. This is apart-time(22.5 hours),cross-siteBand 6 role within maternity services, offering the opportunity to contribute to morecommunity-focused, collaborative andperson-centredmodels of care, with an emphasis on improving the experience of women and birthing people throughout the perinatal period.
Main duties of the job
Providetrauma-informedperinatal mental health care to women and birthing people with severe and complex mental health needs, working flexiblyacross the working weekalongside maternity and mental health colleagues across both acute and community settings to ensure care is responsive, accessible and centred on the individual and their family.
Work collaboratively with maternity services, specialist perinatal mental health teams and wider agencies to support shared working, coordinated care planning and effective communication, helping to reduce the risk of fragmented care or unmet need.
Contribute to the assessment,developmentand review of individualised,trauma-informedcare plans, ensuring mental health needs, risks andprotective factors are clearlyidentified,documentedand shared appropriately across services.
Provideprofessional advice, guidance,trainingandongoingsupport to maternity colleagues, promotingtrauma-informedapproaches to care and supporting teams to recognise, respond to,supportand escalateperinatal mental health needs within everyday practice.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the Perinatal Mental Health Midwives service, engaging in service improvement,auditand pathway development in line with the national direction of maternity and perinatal mental health care.
