Job summary

Calling all Registered Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Students who are due to qualify by September 2026 who have ambition to develop and grow!

We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician with substantial knowledge and practical experience within Pharmacy Dispensing Services.

Team Dispensary is a welcoming, friendly and inclusive team who are committed to improving the service we provide to our patients. We welcome applications from Registered Pharmacy Technicians working in all sectors.

The post is 37.5 hours per week. There is flexibility to how the hours a fulfilled that can be discussed with the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

You will be supporting the Dispensing Services Manager and Chief Technicians in ensuring the maintenance of an efficient safe dispensing service within our Main Dispensary at The Royal Derby Hospital.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure you are able to liaise closely with our service users and Pharmacy colleagues.

The successful candidate will have Dispensary experience, hold a BTEC or NVQ Level 3 (Pharmaceutical Services) qualification or equivalent, and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). We will also consider qualified pharmacy technician or due to qualify as a pharmacy technician by September 2026.

The post offers opportunities for development and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to grow and share their development with the department. There will be a requirement to participate in weekend and bank holiday working on a rotational basis.

Person Specification

Training and experience Essential

Registered Pharmacy Technician; evidence of CPD Significant pharmacy experience including experience in dispensing services Qualified pharmacy technician or due to qualify as a pharmacy technician within 6 months

Desirable

Knowledge and understanding of NVQ Pharmacy Services standards

Organisational Skills Essential

Able to work under pressure, organise own work and meet deadlines Able to demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative but know limitations of own authority and knowledge

Communication Essential

Able to communicate clearly verbally and electronically with the Pharmacy team and service users Demonstrate that they are approachable and a team player

Skills Essential

To able to concentrate for prolonged periods of time with frequent interruptions from other staff and patients

Desirable

Being able to undertake duties involving frequent standing, bending, stretching and lifting. Occasionally requiring to lift heavy boxes
