Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Specialty Doctor Integrated Sexual Health to join our caring and progressive team in Canterbury.

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed term specialty doctor post to be based at our purpose-built integrated sexual health clinic in the grounds of the QEQM Hospital in Margate.The candidate will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team providing integrated sexual health to the population of east Kent, Medway and East Sussex. This post is in addition to the 7 WTE GUM / HIV Consultant and 4 WTE specialty doctor posts across east Kent, East Sussex and Medway.

The role will involve diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections, provision of all methods of contraception including delivering LARC methods and supporting nursing colleagues. If the post holder does not have prior experience in all aspects of sexual health, the necessary training and support will be given whilst in post to become competent. The role may also involve telephone triage and provision of contraception and simple STI treatments following virtual consultations.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification Full Registration with a licence to practice with the GMC

Desirable

MRCP or MRCOG or MRCGP Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competencies in a relevant specialty and likelihood of achievement of ST2/CT2 competencies in area of speciality. STIF Intermediate or Advanced competency Diploma of the College of Sexual & Reproductive Health (CFSRH) Letters of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques Letters of Competence in Subdermal Implants

Knowledge and experience Essential

Experience of working in an allied speciality such as O&G, urology, dermatology or general practice for the equivalent upto 3 years Understanding of the role of other professionals and partnership working Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months Proven ability to develop effective partnerships to achieve practical outcomes across organisational boundaries including statutory organisations, external agencies, community and voluntary organisations Knowledge of BASHH guidelines Knowledge of CSRH contraception guidance Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in sexual health services

Desirable

Experience of working in a sexual health clinic Up to date with clinical practice in sexual health Microscopy skills relevant to GUM Experience in all methods of contraception Evidence of research and/or audit publications in peer reviewed journals Knowledge of community sexual health service models Understanding of public health approaches to STI prevention
