About this role
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Install and maintain communications equipment and wiring in the county offices and in the home office.
• Maintain the highest level of network security allowed for according to business model
• Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues for county, home office users, and on some occasions, VPN users
• Monitor network performance and make adjustments as deemed necessary
• Maintain appropriate documentation on current network practices and equipment
• Develop and maintain appropriate Disaster Recovery procedures for remote sites and documentation
• Develop working knowledge of Security policies and practices as it relates to networking equipment
• Research, plan and implement upgrades to network and network infrastructure as needed
• Position has responsibility for a component of IT security for their functional area
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
• Develop and maintain a positive relationship with Internet Service Provider vendors and company personnel.
• Keep management and team members informed of technical issues that arise
• Be available for 24/7 on-call rotation
• Some travel required with occasional overnight trips.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Associate (2-year) degree, or 2-4 years combined work experience in information technology field: preferably in network field.
• Knowledge of Core Networking functions (Routing, Switching, OSI Model)
• Certifications: Net+, CCNA (preferred).
• Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on frequent basis.
• Working in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces is required.
