Hiring Range: - $26.00 - $35.00 Hours: Some combination of Tuesdays/Thursdays/Sundays
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Aquatics Manager, the Aqua Wellness Instructor is responsible for providing water-based fitness and wellness instruction, monitoring participants, educating patrons on fitness and safety and maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time
• Demonstrates and explains proper exercise techniques, warm-ups, stretches, and cool downs
• Explains different muscle groups and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles, including offering modifications for different ability levels
• Prepares appropriate equipment and music for each class, including bringing equipment to deck and assisting the Pool Manager with moving lane lines
• Promotes a commitment to healthier lifestyles and creates an inclusive environment
• Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook
• Perform other duties as directed by the Aquatics Manager
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provide customer service to Pavilion Aquatics Center members and participants
• Maintain a commitment to the operation of a safe and effective aquatic environment
• Other duties as assigned
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
• Must be able to work independently
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a warm and humid environment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior experience teaching Aqua Wellness classes
• Organized, creative, flexible, and an effective communicator
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and build rapport with participants
• Working knowledge of pertinent safety precautions and current trends in the field such as exercise, stress management, etc.
• Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees
• Ability to create and deliver group exercise programs
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with participants and staff
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
• Current certification from a recognized organization such as the Aquatic Exercise Association or other similar agency preferred
