JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Aquatics Operations Supervisor, the Pool Manager is responsible for supervising the District’s Aquatic Facilities and staff, while ensuring the safety of patrons and responding to emergencies. The Pool Manager may be a year-round or seasonal employee.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Supervise and evaluate Lifeguards, Head Lifeguards, Lead Lifeguards, Slide Attendants, and Cashiers
• Lead Weekly InService Trainings for Lifeguards and teach lifeguard certification classes to meet certification standards
• Perform and document pool chlorine and pH readings for the pool seasonally; remove Dolphin vacuums as needed
• Manage aquatic facilities during open swim, programming and special events.
• Oversee and assist in emergency procedures and evacuations
• Assist and support staff with customer service
• Schedule staff and respond to coverage needs in daily schedule
• Oversee daily operations, including daily facility and equipment inspections and submitting work orders for necessary repairs and maintenance
• Complete daily documentation and paperwork
• Bring and use proper sun protection on every shift that includes time outdoors
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
• Assist by cashiering or lifeguarding when necessary to maintain appropriate supervision
• Utilize scheduling software to communicate monthly availability and view scheduled shifts
• Perform the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules
• Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks
• Follow all Federal and State Labor Laws
• Maintain a commitment to the operation of safe and effective aquatic environment
• Go beyond the expected to provide exemplary customer service to patrons, including sharing information about the pool rules, EGPD programs, facilities, and events, and answering questions
• Responsible for other duties as deemed appropriate by the Aquatics Supervisors or Aquatics Manager
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
• Responsible for the safety of the general public in the pool and on the pool deck including the ability to make decisions to assure safety in and around the aquatic facilities
• Able to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR is required, including the ability to respond quickly and accurately to any and all emergencies while providing direction to the lifeguard staff
• Must work closely with co-workers
• Subject to modified/flexible work schedule
• Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Work in a wide range of weather conditions which can include cold, rain, humidity, and extreme heat
• The Pool Manager must be safety conscientious and use good judgment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions
• Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees
• Must have worked as a Lifeguard at Rainbow Falls Waterpark for one full summer
• Ability to pass vision test (with or without corrective eyewear)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• The Pool Manager must possess or be able to successfully complete StarGuard ELITE’s Lifeguard certification
• StarGuard ELITE Instructor Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring preferred
• Minimum 2 years of lifeguard experience
• Customer service experience of at least 1-2 years
