Job Description:
1. Operation and Maintenance (O&M)
• High Voltage Equipment: • Manage, operate, and maintain 33kV switchgear, transformers, and protection systems. • Perform regular inspections and testing of high-voltage electrical equipment to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Solar Inverter Systems: • Monitor and maintain inverter operations, ensuring optimal power conversion from DC to AC.
• Grid Connection: • Oversee the interface between the solar plant and the grid, ensuring compliance with grid codes and standards.
2. Troubleshooting and Repairs
• Diagnose and repair faults in high-voltage systems and components. • Respond to power outages, ensuring minimal downtime. • Analyze system alarms and data logs to identify issues and prevent future failures. 3. Safety and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with local and international electrical standards, such as IEC, OSHA, and utility-specific regulations. • Implement and enforce safety protocols for high-voltage operations, including permit-to-work systems and lockout/tagout procedures. • Conduct routine safety checks and risk assessments to prevent accidents. • Coordinate and liaise with TNB for permit to work, installation, testing and repair works. 4. Testing and Commissioning
• Participate in the commissioning of new installations, ensuring systems meet design and safety requirements. • Conduct high-voltage testing, such as insulation resistance and partial discharge tests, to verify equipment integrity. 5. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, test results, and system performance. • Prepare reports on incidents, system performance metrics, and compliance audits. • Prepare monthly reports to Suruhanjaya Tenaga as required by relevant laws and regulations 6. Team Collaboration and Supervision
• Supervise electrical teams and contractors during installation, maintenance, and repair work. • Train and guide junior technicians on high-voltage safety and operational procedures. 7. Monitoring and Optimization
• Monitor the performance of the solar farm to ensure optimal energy production. • Identify and implement strategies to enhance system efficiency and reduce energy losses. 8. Emergency Response
• Act as the point of contact for high-voltage emergencies, coordinating response actions to ensure safety and minimize system disruption.
Requirement
• 3-5 years of experience working with high-voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, and protection systems. • Experience in renewable energy, particularly in solar plant operations, is highly advantageous • Valid 33kV Chargeman certification by Suruhanjaya Tenaga
