The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform aircraft maintenance and repair, which includes (1) interpreting technical specifications, drawings, and manuals; (2) installing, aligning, adjusting, and troubleshooting mechanical systems and components; and (3) using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to verify work and complete functional checks. Major DutiesYou will disassemble and assemble major aircraft components, such as control surfaces and landing gear, for overhaul or modification by following detailed procedures.You will perform repairs by removing and replacing worn or damaged parts like gaskets, hydraulic lines, and fuel cells.You will install, align, and adjust aircraft systems, assemblies, and components according to established guidelines.You will inspect, disassemble, and reassemble aircraft parts and accessories, including armament mounts, hydraulic components, and environmental control systems.You will use common hand tools, measuring devices, and test equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.You will work as part of a team under the direction of senior employees to assist with complex operations like jacking aircraft or installing engines.You will assist with operational checkouts on the flight line, using hand signals to communicate with pilots and inspecting engines for leaks.You will perform flight line support duties such as standing fire guard during engine starts and operating ground power equipment.You will perform minor preservation duties, including inspecting aircraft for leaks and lubricating landing gear components.You will service aircraft systems by flushing contaminants, replacing desiccants, and obtaining oil samples for analysis.You will perform basic corrosion control, prepare aircraft for washing, and install protective coverings.
