Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Supermarket or bakery department. Tasks: Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders. Bake mixed dough and batters. Prepare special orders. Supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff. Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods. Train staff. Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards. Inspect kitchen and food service areas. Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods. Personal suitability: Accurate. Dependability. Support for youths: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment. Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
