About this role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of industrial automation and control systems. This role requires expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), industrial networking, cybersecurity, and Honeywell automation platforms.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot industrial automation and control systems. * Configure, program, and maintain PLC and DCS systems. * Support and optimize Honeywell control systems and related applications. * Perform system testing, commissioning, and startup activities. * Monitor and maintain industrial network infrastructure and communication protocols. * Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures for Operational Technology (OT) environments. * Diagnose and resolve automation, instrumentation, and control system issues. * Prepare technical documentation, reports, and system specifications. * Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve system reliability and performance. * Ensure compliance with safety, industry, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field. * 3?5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems. * Hands-on experience with DCS and PLC programming, configuration, and troubleshooting. * Experience with Honeywell automation and control systems. * Strong knowledge of industrial networking, communication protocols, and system integration. * Experience implementing and supporting industrial cybersecurity practices. * Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, and electrical drawings. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Valid driver's license and ability to work at industrial sites.

Preferred Skills

* Experience in oil and gas, mining, or heavy industrial operations. * Knowledge of SCADA systems and field instrumentation. * Familiarity with ISA/IEC cybersecurity standards and best practices. * Experience with commissioning and startup activities.

Pay: $40.00-$58.00 per hour
