In-person Cosmetology Hours:
5 days include the following schedule: Monday through Thursday - 9-11am at the Arden Center & Monday & Wednesday - 2pm-4pm - at the Carmichael Center
There will be 8 hrs. of instruction plus 4 hours grading plus prep. You will be paid for mileage from Arden to Carmichael so about 15-20 hours. Reliable transportation for travel to Arden to Carmichael is required. Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Instruct students in specific CTE Pathways, using various teaching methods, audiovisual aids, and other hands-on materials. • Prepares an outline for the course of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of the state and department. • Counsels students in adjustment and academic problems. • Develops CTE lessons for the course curriculum. • Managing, documenting, and supporting any student clinical hours needed for certification. • Participates in various community groups or functions, faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. • Connects with students and parents to discuss student progress and address any issues. • Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, assesses student work product, and records results. • Maintains attendance records and student grades • Assists in maintaining a clean, inviting, professional center for students to attend. • Performs other administrative functions and duties assigned. • Creates community, college, and business relationships that lead to partnerships benefiting the students and improving the course capstones. • Continues to gain industry experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Ability to teach and delegate responsibility to students. • Ability to work independently and efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment, in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with minimal supervision. • Superior organizational and record-keeping skills. • Ability to synergize with field and corporate staff to implement the educational program. • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude. • Strong interpersonal relationship skills. • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with students, parents, co-workers, and business contacts courteously and professionally. • Working knowledge of MS Office, Google, and database management. • Must hold a valid CA Driver’s License. • Ability to clear a driving record screen.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum Preliminary CTE Credential in Fashion and Interior Design, OR ability and willingness to obtain a CTE Credential. • At least 3 years of industry experience. • Teaching experience preferred.
