Job SummaryAs an Aerospace Testing Facility Manager with the Test Facility Management Branch at NASA Glenn Research Center, you will oversee the operation, maintenance, and modernization of aerospace research and test facilities. You will provide technical oversight, coordinate testing activities, engage customers and stakeholders, and support strategic planning efforts to ensure facilities safely support NASA programs, projects, and mission objectives.
QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Planning, managing, or executing aerospace research, testing, or engineering activities in experimental research or test facilities; Leading or coordinating engineering projects involving facility operations, test planning, resource management, contractor coordination, or schedule execution; Performing engineering work involving test facilities, experimental hardware, test operations, data evaluation, or safety activities supporting aerospace research and testing. Major DutiesPlan, manage, and execute complex aerospace research and testing activities in experimental facilities to support NASA programs, projects, and mission objective.Lead the development, modification, and enhancement of aerospace test capabilities, facilities, systems, and associated test infrastructure.Direct the planning, execution, analysis, and validation of aerospace test data to evaluate system performance and support engineering decisions.Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise for test projects involving facility operations, test articles, systems integration, and risk management.Manage resources, schedules, budgets, and project activities associated with aerospace research, testing, and facility operations.Monitor and evaluate contractor, partner, and stakeholder activities to ensure technical requirements, safety standards, and project objectives are achieved.Conduct engineering studies and technical assessments to support the development of new technologies, test methods, and mission capabilities.Ensure safe operation of aerospace test facilities and experiments through the application of engineering principles, risk management, and safety requirements.
