The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our cover team.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience before moving in to teacher training or a teaching position. You will develop skills in classroom management, behaviour for learning, lesson delivery and student engagement.
You will take responsibility for leading classes in the absence of a teacher ensuring students remain engaged with learning and maintaining high standards of behaviour and achievement.
Your role:
Deliver pre-prepared lessons materials in the absence of the classroom teacherSupport students with their learning by providing guidance and clarification on tasksSupervise individuals or small groups of students adapting tasks where needed to meet learning objectivesMonitor and report pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff and/or SENCOSupport the development of literacy and numeracy skills of pupils from a wide variety of backgroundsAssist in the planning and delivery of classroom activities when cover duties are not required
What you will need to succeed:
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills Minimum requirement of Grade 4/C or above(or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science A flexible, positive attitude and strong classroom presence Understanding of how to support students with differing levels of ability and needs Ability to maintain high standards of behaviour and learning in a classroom environment
