We are looking for nurses who would like to work in a friendly, nurse led environment within HMP Bedford for a trust that is committed to making a positive difference to both its service users and the careers of its staff?
We are seeking two qualified experienced nurses to work within an integrated healthcare model. One of the posts is substantive and the other is to cover Maternity for eight months.
The successful candidate will be an excellent team player who works closely with patients, the health care multidisciplinary team and the prison service to ensure comprehensive and Trauma informed care is provided to patient.
Please note this post is subject to security vetting. To be considered for this post you will need to have continuously resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to this application and be able to evidence your years of residency.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will undertake various duties within the prison setting, including acting as a responder to emergencies, screening patients, triage and working in partnership with other agencies to provide care.
Previous experience of working in a prison is especially desirable, but not essential. You will benefit from an extensive supernumerary period, access to a full range of training and be encouraged to develop your skills within this role.

Security Vetting Essential
The application includes evidence of the required years of UK residency to meet prison vetting standards
Knowledge & Experience Essential
RGN / RMN on the NMC register or Paramedic on the HCPC register Be educated to post graduate degree level or 18 months post qualification experience Have experience of data collection, audits and report writing.
Desirable
Have experience and knowledge of working in a secure environment Have experience of managing groups of staff, dealing with staff issues and managing performance, sickness and conduct matters
Skills Essential
Have excellent written and oral communication skills, ensuring contemporaneous healthcare records are maintained. Be able to work in a fast paced, multi-level environment
Desirable
Actively participate in and support clinical audit and clinical governance systems at a local level, including the collection of data
