Job summary
Applications are invited for a Locally Employed Doctor at Core Trainee level to join our Otorhinolaryngology/ ENT department here at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post is available immediately and the successful candidate will be appointed on a permanent contract.
Although this post does not have Deanery approval for training purposes, recognised training will be provided. All applicants must hold Full Registration and Licence to Practise with the General Medical Council.

We provide a general ENT service for adults and children, outpatients, inpatient electives and day case work and non-electives. There is a special interest within the team for Head & Neck Surgery, Thyroid and Salivary Gland Surgery, FESS and Otology.
We are supported by comprehensive imaging services, including CT, MRI scanning and Nuclear medicine, Pathology, Pharmacy and Audiology Services.
Main duties of the job
Duties of the post:
The Locally Employed Doctor (LED) will work as part of the ENT team and will take part in the Junior level full shift rota. On call commitments are supervised by a middle grade doctor and consultant during the day, and a Consultant at night. The TD is responsible for the routine pre- and post-operative care of all patients.
The successful applicant will be expected:
To clerk admissions to the unit including emergency admission of patients; To receive and accept emergencies from General Practitioners and from other Departments in the hospital; To manage pre-operative and post-operative treatment of patients under the direction of the Consultants; To run the Emergency Clinic this duty is shared with the other CT and the FY2 doctors. To perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances, at the request of the appropriate consultant or clinical director, in consultation where possible with colleagues both senior and junior. Additional commitments arising under this paragraph are exceptional; in particular, the doctor will not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. Specific duties entailed will be as decided by the responsible Consultant, and may vary with the circumstances from time to time, and the developing competence and interests of the members of the firm.

A minimum of four years surgical training (ideally 2 years basic surgical training and two years in your surgical specialty.) Surgical procedures.
