The NHS Stem Cell Donor Registry (the new name for the British Bone Marrow Registry) is seeking a Business Support Manager, dedicated to continuous improvement, to join our team. In this role, you will drive positive change and optimise our operations, while providing crucial business support to our registry services.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including medical professionals, data analysts, and IT specialists, to identify areas of improvement within our processes, systems, and overall operational efficiency. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing the quality of our registry services, leading to improved patient outcomes and advancing life-saving treatments.
In addition to driving continuous improvement, you will provide essential business support to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration. Your role will involve analysing data, identifying trends, and implementing strategies to streamline our internal processes. This post is funded for two years and will play a significant role in our work around donor retention. This will involve working across internal teams, and with external stakeholders, to develop, implement and super-charge donor retention.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of all business management for the Bristish Bone Marrow Registry (BBMR) function. Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing all administrative aspects of the function and supporting the delivery of the Stem Cell Donation and Transplantation (SCDT)/Cell Apheresis and Gene Therapy (CAGT) strategic planEnsuring that the appropriate data is available, analysed and presented to support business decision making, forging the gap between financial and business management.Managing and delivering a variety of projects, focusing on continuous improvement to release capacity and initiatives to deliver process improvements to benefit end users and BBMR colleagues.Taking a key role in managing complex and influential relationships, where understanding organisational/functional dynamics, networks of influence and current priorities are essentialDirecting the function to achieve its challenging key performance indicators and donor panel growth targets and ultimately ensure a positive donor experience and overall improved efficiency/productivityWorking across organisational boundaries/functions and with other organisationsSupervising, developing and assuming full line management responsibility for the Donor Retention Officer.Deputising for the BBMR Operations & Planning Manager when requiredYou will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours when required with prior notice.

This vacancy is a fixed term/secondment for 2 years.

Significant experience of continuous improvement practice and methodology Experience of creating business cases, capturing business requirements and benefit management to draft papers/correspondence for SMT level Experience of planning over short/medium/long-term timeframes and adjusting plans and resources accordingly Experience of identifying performance trends and root causes of performance issues Understanding of UK legislation e.g. Data Protection, Freedom of Information Staff management experience to include full responsibilities for recruitment, training, performance and conduct issues In-depth knowledge of balanced scorecards and other performance valuation and improvement techniques Track record of success on delivering change and project management Understanding of other relevant international legislation and standard Strong analytical skills and experience of using database/spreadsheet software
