Job summary
We are currently seeking a Quality Officer to join the QA Plasma team within the Quality Directorate. The role of the Quality Officer is to provide independent advice, guidance and support in the use of our quality systems. The Quality Officer will also assist in monitoring our quality system on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that all licensing and accreditation activities are appropriately undertaken. A key aspect of the role is the coordination and management of quality reporting and incident management activities associated with the national plasma supply chain, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners. The postholder will also support continual improvement of quality processes and reporting activities across Plasma for Medicines operations.
The Quality Officer post reports to the National Quality Assurance Manager Plasma and can be based at any NHSBT main site upon agreement but provides support for plasma activities nationally. The role requires some on site activities but also has the flexibility for working remotely.
Main duties of the job
About the Role
You will assist the Plasma Quality Assurance team in the smooth running of the Plasma Quality Assurance Department, including management of team communications, workload coordination and quality system activities.
You will support licensing and regulatory activities by liaison with operational departments, providing advice and training in the NHSBT quality management system.
You will assist in the management of incident reporting, by engaging with both internal and external stakeholders
You will coordinate quality reporting activities associated with the supply of plasma to external partners, including review, collation and communication of quality information.
You will support plasma operational activities through management of quality-related queries and product hold processes where required.
You may be responsible for the management of small-scale change controls and quality incidents.
You will be responsible for monitoring national inboxes and escalating problems as required.
To support activities, some travel throughout the UK and spending some time away from base, which may involve working irregular hours and occasional overnight stays may be required, this will be with prior notice.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to degree level in a related subject e.g. Biomedical Science, Pharmaceutical or equivalent professional qualification or experience. Evidence of continuous professional development.
Experience Essential
Experience in a regulated (Good Manufacturing Practice, NHSBT or equivalent) environment Knowledge and understanding of blood, plasma and medicines legislation across the UK Knowledge of blood and plasma collection, testing, manufacturing, storage and issuing processes Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), or equivalent systems Experience of using IT systems to produce reports and correspondence which are timely, professional and accurate
