An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy midwifery team as a maternity support worker with Antenatal Clinic, on a temporary basis.

This role requires individuals to work as a proactive member of the team and to undertake a range of duties to assist the ward team in maintaining the smooth running of the clinical area.

Applicants require a good standard of general education to GCSE level to include English and Mathematics. Applicants must be reliable and committed to supporting delivering excellent maternity care. Basic knowledge of data protection, recent experience with a variety of IT systems and confidentiality are essential. Basic antenatal care and maternity services would be advantageous.

Hours per week: 22.5

Main duties of the job

You will be supporting the multidisciplinary team with clinics held in the from early pregnancy and through the antenatal period, you would play a vital role in helping to deliver safe, effective care to women and their families with clear documentation.

You will undertake venepuncture, recording of maternal observations and supporting expectant women and their families through their pregnancy journey with underpinned knowledge of public health promotion.

You will also work with the team to maintain excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the department.

Experience Essential

Previous experience within healthcare / care setting

Desirable

Previous experience in Antenatal Care Experience working in an Early Pregnancy Assessment setting

Knowledge & Skills Essential

Demonstrate evidence of Senior Clinical Support Worker competencies Demonstrates good insight into roles and responsibilities of the post, including awareness of Antenatal Care and Screening Tests available in pregnancy Able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of effective customer care Working as part of a team Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of quality care Evidence of Band 2 competency Be competent in the recording of clinical sign observations Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills; within a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding Demonstrates literacy and numeracy skills Able to present factual information and refer to questions to others where appropriate Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy Basic IT skills e.g. e-mail

Qualifications Essential

NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) Level 3 in Healthcare/ Direct care or T Level in Healthcare CARE certificate Successful completion of the Be AWARE to Care course (or equivalent) GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) including English and Maths (or equivalent such as level 2 functional skills)
