Are you a highly skilled Orthodontic Technician looking to make a direct impact on patient care?

Welcome to Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an experienced, dedicated and highly skilled Orthodontic Technician to join our Maxillofacial and Orthodontic laboratory team.

In this vital role, you will directly respond to the needs of our orthodontic consultants by providing crucial high quality bespoke fixed and removable orthodontic appliances with typical turnaround of 2-3 weeks and same-day access to technical services.

Main duties of the job

Creating high-quality, bespoke orthodontic medical devices.Appling your in-depth knowledge of anatomy and science to determine the most appropriate techniques and prosthetic rehabilitation for individual patient conditions.Utilising digital technology, specifically for the manipulation of digital intra-oral scans and the subsequent manufacture of various orthodontic appliances.Providing outcome scoring using PAR for orthodontic finished treatment cases, as well as for patients in the cleft service.Operating and maintain complex, high capital cost specialist equipment safely and efficiently.Assisting in the development of the laboratory and help introduce new techniques as they become available.

The Essentials

You are a fully qualified Dental Technician (BTEC Diploma/BSc or equivalent) with active GDC registration.You have proven experience in highly complex appliance design and manufacture - this will be verified during bench test.You are comfortable with 3Shape orthodontic software and managing complex orthodontic cases.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Fully qualified Dental Technician with BTEC Diploma/BSc or equivalent in Dental Technology. Registration with the GDC as a Dental Technician.

Desirable

Post graduate qualification in orthodontic technology or evidenced equivalent experience. Certificate in PAR Calibration.

Experience Essential

Experienced in highly complex appliance design and manufacture. Experience of Medical Device legislation, clinical governance, risk management and health and safety principles.

Desirable

Previous work experience within a hospital environment.

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of 3Shape orthodontic software Knowledge of technical management of complex orthodontic and cleft patient cases.

Desirable

Membership of an appropriate professional body such as the OTA

Skills Essential

Organisational skills - able to deliver objectives within an agreed timeframe within framework of a busy environment. Communication skills - developing professional relationship with clinicians/colleagues/management to deliver performance targets, service delivery and change programmes. Ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a team. Proven analytical skills. Proven ability in computer programme such as Microsoft word/excel.

Desirable

Able to collaborate constructively with colleagues and service users to foster and develop conditions, for successful partnership working and service development.

Additional Requirements Essential

The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.
