Job summary
We are looking for a skilled and motivatedSexual Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at The Riverside Clinic, delivering a comprehensive, patient-centred contraceptive and sexual health service.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and support staff to provide high-quality, confidential care to a diverse patient population. You will also contribute to the organisation and day-to-day management of the department, supporting service delivery, supervising staff as required, and participating in the teaching and development of students.
You will play an active role in the continued development of nurse-led services, helping to shape and enhance the care we provide in line with best practice and service need. Main duties of the job
Perform venepuncture as required. Triage patients and act as resource for questions concerning sexual health Assist with the multi-disciplinary care and treatment of HIV patients. Liaise with the department HIV team to discuss care as required. With advanced clinical skill and using departmental protocols, undertake a sexual and contraceptive history, examination and screening for sexually acquired infection for unselected (symptomatic and asymptomatic) patients. Take a detailed sexual history and discuss partner notification To work within the SSHA(Society of sexual health advisors) guidelines i.e. Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct guidelines for good practice and partner notification policy. Examine patients and take appropriate swabs/samples in accordance with the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) Give treatments as per Patient Group Directions Perform cryotherapy, and advise on home wart treatment for patients Give advice on contraceptive options. Perform pregnancy tests as necessary and give emergency contraception if required. Discuss safer sex issues. Give a condom demonstration as required and issue condoms/C Card as appropriate. Give vaccinations/treatments/contraception by IM injection as required. Be able to assess Fraser competence as part of a team of professionals and be aware of referral pathways for Safeguarding children as stipulated by the RUH, local Safeguarding Children's Board, liaising with other professionals as necessary.

Job description Job responsibilities
Supervise junior staff in the delivery of care, through effective monitoring, mentoring, clinical supervision and reflective practice.
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of child protection and vulnerable adult issues and support staff to act on any concerns as necessary.
Health advising skills to include partner notification discussions, provider referrals and completion of patient tasks on the clinic EPR system. Rotate to work in the health advisor office as per service need.
Perform venepuncture as required.
Stain slides and perform microscopy for detection and diagnosis of sexual infection after appropriate training.

Co-ordinate nurse led follow-up clinics.

Commence appropriate contraception after assessing the patients needs and requirements.
Give vaccinations/treatments/contraception by IM injection as required.
Have an in-depth knowledge of the Fraser Guidelines regarding provision of contraception and sexual health to young people under the age of 16.
Be able to assess Fraser competence as part of a team of professionals and be aware of referral pathways for Safeguarding children as stipulated by the RUH, local Safeguarding Childrens Board, liaising with other professionals as necessary.
Complete an additional assessment template for spotting the signs of child sexual exploitation, for all those attending the service who are under 18 years of age.
