North Manchester General are seeking a dedicated and resourceful Painter and Decorator to join our team and provide top-notch support to our directorate. As a key point of contact for troubleshooting and assistance, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring seamless operations and satisfaction.
The painter and decorator plays a vital role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position involves maintaining the appearance of hospital interiors and exteriors, carrying out routine painting, wallpapering, and touch-up work across wards, corridors, and patient rooms. The role demands careful attention to detail, adherence to health and safety regulations, and the ability to work around sensitive healthcare environments with minimal disruption.

This role is to directly support the Director of Estates in ensuring that the Directorate both creates and supports a caring environment through the delivery of an effective estates service at best value and quality.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibility of the role is to participate in the provision of an Estates service primarily undertaking building day-to-day decorating and repairs, planned maintenance, PPM, and minor improvements, along with new work for all NMGH sites as required.
Working as part of the maintenance team within the hospital you will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of systems and equipment. Carrying out duties as detailed by the building supervisor to a high standard either individually or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will be required to respond to jobs issued through the Trusts CAFM system onto a trust issued smartphone and to update works and PPM's as required. It is anticipated that some additional duties will also be undertaken as training and experience is gained.

What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:
Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police thats considered relevant to the role.
Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the childrens and/or adults barred lists.
Who Needs a DBS Check
Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.
The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
