Job summary

Providing high standard of care to neonates and their families under clinical supervision of NCOS

Support parents and staff with preparation of discharge of the neonate in special care and the transitional care based on the postnatal ward.

Teach and assess parents craft skills

Maintained high standards of care both in hospital and community settings

Support "Baby Friendly Initiative"

To provide support and on-going assessment of the neonate post discharge as delegated by NCOS.

This role and interview will be part of the NICU recruitment event on 9th July 2026 , 9am - 5pm.

Main duties of the job

Assist parents/carers to develop their skills and build confidence prior to and following discharge.

Monitor vital signs.

Caring for babies receiving Oxygen and participate in Oxygen studies.

Participate in the care of babies requiring phototherapy.

Be able to identify child protection concerns and take appropriate action.

Maintain legible, accurate and contemporaneous records in accordance with the Trust Policy

Be responsible for own professional development.

NNEB Diploma NVQ level 3 in Early Year, Care and Education Foundation degree in Health and Social Care

1 Year's experience working with newborn infants Safeguarding Children Training

Experience Essential

Relevant work experience with babies and families Experience of working within a team

1 year experience caring for babies Working in an acute hospital setting

Knowledge Essential
