About this role

Job summary We have two ST-Higher LAS posts available: 05/08/2026 - 07/10/2026 The above opportunities are availableto join a supportive and well-established team withinObstetrics & Gynaecology. Primarily based at Glangwili General Hospital in Carmarthen with travel to other sites expected for clinical duties. The posts offer broad, hands-on experience across the full range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The roles combine strong professional development with an appealing quality of life. Main duties of the job Clinical Duties

Contribute to elective services and participate in a1:12 Obstetrics & Gynaecology rota, working closely with supervising Consultants to ensure high-quality prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Undertake independent ward rounds and provide safe, effective inpatient care. Manage patients confidently and autonomously within agreed clinical parameters. Leadership and Teamwork Provide clear clinical leadership to resident and trainee medical staff. Support a positive, collaborative working culture within the multidisciplinary team. Teaching, Training, and Research Take part in departmental teaching activities. Engage in research initiatives and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation. Governance and Quality Improvement Participate in regular multidisciplinary clinical audit to ensure practice remains evidence-based and aligned with national standards. Deliver clinical care in accordance with contractual requirements, Health Board service plans, and established policies, procedures, and protocols.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice. Valid Certified Advanced Life Support.

Desirable

Additional clinical qualification(s). Evidence of working towards membership of the Royal College.

Clinical Governance Essential

Participation in clinical audit (or quality improvement project) and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice.

Desirable

Knowledge of risk management. Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process.

Experience Essential

Shall have at least 4 years full time Postgraduate experience (or its equivalent on a part time or flexible basis). Able to demonstrate core competencies and clinical skills relevant to the post. NHS Experience.

Desirable

Able to demonstrate evidence of leading a team.

Teaching Essential

Willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff.

Desirable

Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and resident doctors.

Other Essential

Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner. Flexible approach to the needs of the service.
