Job summary
Due to the imminent retirement of the postholder, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit a new Head of Radiotherapy Dosimetry. The post holder will be specifically responsible for the radiation dosimetry and quality assurance programme of the radiotherapy treatment units. This includes the external beam treatment units and the brachytherapy afterloading units and sealed sources. They are also the line manager for the Head of Radiotherapy Engineering and responsible for ensuring radiotherapy equipment is maintained in accordance with manufactures specifications. The post holder acts as a Medical Physics Expert as defined by legislation (IRMER 2024). The post-holder forms part of the multi-disciplinary team providing radiotherapy services to patients within NUH; collaborating with clinicians and other staff over the strategic direction for radiotherapy and the optimal way to provide a high quality, patient centred radiotherapy service.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for and manage the dosimetry and quality assurance of all the radiotherapy treatment units and dosimetry equipment in accordance with all relevant legislation and guidance.
Responsible for proposing and implementation of policy changes in radiotherapy dosimetry and QA, within the Clinical Sciences Directorate and other Care Groups (the Radiotherapy Service is within the Medicine Care Group).
Act as line manager for staff within the Dosimetry / QA Radiotherapy Physics service, including recruitment, workload allocation, performance and career development.
Act as line manager for the Head of Radiotherapy Engineering including recruitment, workload allocation, performance and career development
