Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic person to join our team in the preoperative assessment department here at Wrightington Hospital.
You will play an important role in progressing our patients waiting for elective surgery through their Pre-Op journey.
The role also requires multi-tasking in providing support to the clinical team. We are a fast paced busy department with multiple clinics everyday Monday to Friday.
Key attributes we are looking for in a person to join our team are; can work as part of a team, good communication skills, forwarding thinking and fulfil all expectations required to enhance the service we provide for our patients.
This vacancy is open to internal and external candidates. NHS employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying as this will be a condition of any offer made.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for a period of 12 months to support the implementation of the online check-in system within clinical areas.
Whilst this post is advertised on a Fixed Term basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future without the need to re-advertise.
Main duties of the job
Attending patients when booking in for their appointment. Ensure correct and accurate information is recorded. Answering telephone calls and relaying any messages to the clinical teams. Assist in any patients queries. Preparing paperwork for clinics. Liaising with internal and external specialist disciplinary teams. Assist nursing colleagues with admin needs, recording accurate documentation and data.

Job description Job responsibilities
To ensure that all patient documentation is completed and available in advance of the clinic in accordance with procedure.
To receive patients at reception and ensure that all patient demographic details are up to date and accurate both on CSC / PAS .and HIS systems.
To book patient follow-up appointments in accordance with clinic rules and deal with enquiries from the general public and other disciplines of staff regarding clinic bookings.
To be responsible for the recording of all clinic outcomes and other information within agreed deadlines.
To ensure any case-notes are transported between areas in a secure and confidential manner in line with GDPR.
To assist members of the medical and nursing staff with any queries during the course of the clinic sessions.
Deal with walk-in patients to clinic, answer telephone calls and take messages for colleagues.
Provide outpatient clinic lists and booking summaries for consultants and nursing staff.
Liaise with the transport department to ensure the deadlines for receipt and dispatch of case-notes is strictly adhered to.
To provide any other duties that may be required relevant to this grade, when processes change to improve service delivery.

Qualifacations Essential
GCSE (or equivalent qualification) in both English & Maths or able to demonstrate equivalent experience VDU & Hospital IT systems
