About this role

Job summary

This is a fixed term/secondment post until 31/12/2028 due to funding.

If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager prior to application.

We are seeking to appoint a team of site security officers to work alongside our well established portering team. These are newly created posts and the primary responsibility will be to fulfil fire warden and site security duties, alongside the portering duties required to maintain a high standard of service throughout the hospital .

The posts are 35 hours per week, nights only covering 4 nights in 7 on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will:

Conduct regular fire checks throughout the shift, addressing or escalating any issues as they arise . Perform site security checks , ensuring the building has been properly secured, and remains so overnight . Routine portering duties

A driving licence to drive Health Board Vehicles is essential for this role

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of dealing with the general public

Desirable

Similar portering experience or some care experience. Experience of handling difficult or violent persons Training in similar portering duties.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension skills. Basic Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling and Food Hygiene knowledge, or willingness to learn through on the job training

Desirable

Food Safety level 2 certificate. Welcome host certificate Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling training

Other Essential

Able to work flexibly as required Driving licence as required to drive Health Board vehicles

Desirable

Category C1 driving licence Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
