About this role

Job summary

This a full time Senior Clinical Fellow Post in Paediatric Urology for out of programme training and service provision. The post holder will be able to gain advanced paediatric Urology experience during the two year period structured programme. Position is initially for 12 months with potential to extend another 12 months. This post is ideal for some one who is looking to either give FRCS Paed Surg exam or CESR application.

ST3-5 equivalent This post will also attract enhanced elements to cover out of hours work and weekends, these are subject to your specific Rota and subject to change. It involves 1 in 6 on call cover with Paediatric surgery.

This is a full time post with additional on call commitments to general paediatric surgery rota. A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive due consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job

The post of Clinical fellow in Paediatric Urology will offer the post holder an exciting opportunity to sub-specialise in paediatric urology whilst being able to participate in a 1:6 non-resident general paediatric surgical on-call to keep up their hard earned skills. The post holder will work at middle grade tier alongside two National Specialty Trainees in Paediatric Surgery (ST3-6), Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric GI and Thoracic Surgery, and 2 Specialist Doctors.

The post is suitable for applicants with previous experience in General Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery who wish to sub specialize in paediatric urology at a center which offers a good balance of adequate exposure/case load for sub-specialty training in paediatric urology and an enjoyable non-resident general paediatric surgical on call. The center provides outreach service to 4 DGH in the region and undertakes clinics and theatres sessions at these hospitals regularly. Post will be compliant with the current EWTD requirements. The post holder will be expected to attend to paediatric urology daytime commitments post nonresident on call tomaximize training and will be accountable to the lead for paediatric urology atNNUH. CLINICAL EXPERIENCE Essential

For NTN holders who are looking for subspeciality training in paediatric urology at a centre with some emergency paediatric surgical experience. No evidence of prolonged (> 3 months) independent practice Experience of working at multiple paediatric surgical centres in the last 5 years oDemonstration of some experience in paediatric urology during paediatric surgery training oDemonstration of commitment to Paediatric Urology as specialty
