Are you looking for a role that really enables you to work holistically?

We have a rare opportunity for someone who appreciates the synergy between physical and mental health to join our established team at Fountain Way Hospital.

You'll have at least 2 years experience as a registered clinician working for the NHS and a real interest in working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness (SMI). It's a role in which no two days are ever the same and one that is challenging yet rewarding. You will be working as part of the MDT, primarily on our inpatient wards (adult and older adult), and there will be opportunity to develop a community service over time. The person we are looking for will be able to inspire, motivate and encourage those with both complex mental health and physical health needs.

Physiotherapy in Mental Health is becoming increasingly recognised in addressing the health disparities faced by those living with SMI. This is an interesting and varied role with opportunities for personal and service development.

Main duties of the job

Provide a physiotherapy service to service users on our adult and older adult wards at Fountain Way Hospital. Opportunity to develop community services. Provide assessment, treatment planning, intervention, review and evaluation with a complex caseload. Liaison with local acute hospital physiotherapy and rehab teams. Onward signposting to community groups and community activity/sport/health resources.

Person Specification

Education and Qualification Essential

Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy Member of the Health Care Profession Council. Minimum of 2 years experience working in the NHS

Desirable

Experience and Knowledge Essential

Significant demonstrable post registration experience functioning as a Band 5 practitioner within the NHS Assessing and carrying out therapeutic interventions to the client group Evidence of continuing professional development. Knowledge of specific requirements to meet the needs of those with mental health conditions or learning disabilities. An understanding of multi professional team working and an ability to promote the role of the Physiotherapist within that. Knowledge of PWP (Support Conversations - Personal Wellbeing Plan) and how physiotherapy fits within this process. Knowledge of relevant legislation within mental health and professional responsibilities. Awareness of the needs of individuals from diverse social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds

Desirable

Experience of working with clients in community settings. Experience working in a mental health or learning disabilities setting

Skills and Abilities Essential

Clinical educator or willing to undertake training. Able to demonstrate the ability to teach and advise others. Be able to demonstrate the application of physiotherapeutic interventions in a variety of settings Highly developed communication skills - (both in writing and verbally) that are effective and in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation. Able to demonstrate highly effective clinical knowledge and apply it within the supervision process Able to show initiative within the parameters of effective team working and evidence based practice Able to contribute effectively to the strategic development of services Time management and ability to prioritise effectively IT skills , basic keyboard
