Job summary
We are looking to recruit a receptionist to work in our extended access hub every Wednesday between 6.30pm 9.30pm and 15 weekends each year (a weekend is Friday 6.30pm-8.30pm and Saturday 9am 5pm) and 15 Monday evenings between 6.30pm-8.30pm.
All rotas are planned well in advance.
The extended access hub is an extension of our day in General Practice in which doctors, nurses and other health professionals consult with patients after the main surgery is closed.
This is an exciting opportunity for a student who wants to work a few hours a week and a few weekends a year or someone whos already employed who wants to earn some extra money.
Main duties of the job
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

Our premises are modern, and purpose built. Our team consists of 4 Partners, 7 Salaried GP's and a well established Nursing team including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Practice Nurses, First Contact Practitioner and Healthcare Assistants.

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice / Assistant Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
Arranging for transport of samples for the labs
Taking messages and passing on information
Receiving appointment bookings from other practices and the OOH service
Filing and retrieving paperwork / notes
Scanning and matching patient documentation
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms of hub equipment and stock as required
Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying, faxing and scanning
Dealing with clinical and shredding waste and operatives
Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required
Keeping the reception area tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Arranging transport for patients where appropriate

Experience Essential

Qualifications Desirable
Educated to O level, GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent experience
