About this role

Job summary

We are looking to appoint to a Whole-Time Locum Consultant Gynaecologist with a subspecialist interest in Gynaecological Oncology to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Jessop Wing of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. This is a fixed term post for 12 months.

We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The cancer centre at STH offers a full range of gynaecological care including robotic surgery and the appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues be responsible for the provision of a Comprehensive Gynaecological Oncology Service.

They will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence and will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the department.

The development of a specialist interest within gynaecological oncology will be encouraged.

The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise. MRCOG Postgraduate professional qualification

Desirable

MD or PhD or equivalent Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview CCT in Obs and Gynae and subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology

Clinical governance and audit Essential

Experience in performing clinical audit

Desirable

Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project

Personal attributes Essential

Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix) Good oral and written communication skills Evidence of experience of working as part of a multi- professional team The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC' good medical practice (2013).

Ability to work as an independent practitioner in gynaecological oncology with subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology.
