Job summary

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised and motivated person, who is a team player, to join our team of ward clerks. You will need to be flexible with excellent organisational, communication and IT skills job specific full training will be given.
This is a pivotal role which requires someone who is able to work independently and is self-motivated and resilient. You will be able to deliver a high standard of customer service and communicate effectively with a wide of service users and colleagues of all grades.
Working Pattern:
Position 1 - 37.5 Hours per week
Monday to Friday
0800-1600
Position 2 - 30 Hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday , Friday
0800 - 1600
Note- Both of these positions are relief posts and require across site working, covering leave and absence in all adult inpatient wards in both Gloucestershire Royal, and Cheltenham General hospitals.
Main duties of the job
To provide administrative and reception support to ensure the smooth running of day to day hospital activity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Skills in these areas would be desirable however full training will be given including other relevant Trust training:
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Customer care skills
- Effective communication skills across all disciplines of staff, patients and public
- Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and data protection in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.
- Able to communicate effectively, and act appropriately and quickly in an emergency
- Experience in using a PC
- Knowledge and understanding of the Trust including a basic knowledge of roles in other areas
- flexibility to support any wards and travel across site as requested.
About us
We are a large team working in 36 locations across 2 Hospital sites.
We provide an administrative and reception support service to each of the wards we cover. The ward clerk team is centrally funded and managed to provide these services to each location.
Flexibility and a willingness to embrace change are an essential requirement for this role.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Essential
GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English Ability to communicate well at all levels, both face to face and by telephone Able to prioritise own workload Recent use of a computerised system in a work environment Awareness and understanding of data protection and confidentiality A flexible and positive attitude, willing to learn and progress within the role Able to adopt a polite and sensitive approach when dealing with patients and relatives Ability to be self-motivated and proactive Good organisational skills and attention to detail Customer Service Administrative/clerical experience
Desirable
Good level of IT knowledge, able to use Microsoft packages confidently Previous service within a Healthcare setting Previous experience of working as part of a team and on own initiative
