We are looking for a psychologist who is passionate about the delivery of high quality psychological care for people that are acutely mentally unwell. Our successful candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, creative, flexible and resourceful at encouraging patients to make positive changes in their life. The successful candidate will have skills and interests in supporting professional colleagues to develop and use psychological thinking in their work and in contributing psychological perspectives to patients care plans.

The role involves
The post holder will provide high quality specialist psychology services to the in-patients at the hospital who present with a wide range of complex mental health conditions, as well as physical health needs; and work as part of the multidisciplinary team (Psychology; OT; Psychiatry; Nurses; other specialities) .
The post holder will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines, agencies and carers.
The post holder will be clinically responsible to a Head of Psychology and Therapies Clinical Psychologist who will have a clinical oversight of all work and service delivery.
The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing the Company policies and procedures.
The post holder will provide support to Assistant Psychologists and trainees. They will utilise research skills in audit, service development and research relevant to the post. What Nouvita Healthcare requires from you

In line with the seniority of the role, you will hold service-wide leadership responsibilities and will be expected to provide consultation and psychological thinking to the senior leadership team of the hospital. You will be proactive in this and show independence of thought and initiative.
As a department, we are working on a number of service development projects, including: trauma informed care; making reflective practice more inclusive; and developing targeted psychological work for patients who are acutely unwell. Our teams aim is for everyone at Nouvita to be touched positively by psychology staff and patients.

Skills required:
A postgraduate qualification in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society / HCPC, which enables you to practice at a qualified level (e.g: Doctorate in Clinical / Counselling Psychology).
Live registration or eligible for immediate registration as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC.
Sound knowledge and understanding of a wide range of mental health conditions and personality disorder.
Experience of working in a psychiatric inpatient unit.
Experience in using psychometric tools.
Experience of working with adults and older adult patients with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
Experience of working with people who present with behaviours of concern (PBS knowledge is desirable)
Experience of working in a multi disciplinary team.
Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues.
Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
- A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) or equivalent - HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist - Experience of working with adults in acute, PICU, rehabilitation or older adult settings (or a combination) - Strong skills in psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention - A collaborative and curious approach to MDT working Interest in or experience of research, audit or service development -The ability to work autonomously and take initiative within a professional framework
