Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to the role of Patient Pathway Assistant within the Women's Admin department to give a high level of patient service.
You will be supported to learn and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to perform in the job role. You will also have study time allocated within your working hours to gain your qualification.
The Role of the administrative assistant is to provide a comprehensive and effective administrative service to support the smooth and efficient running of the Maternity and Gynaecology Department. This includes booking clinic appointments, chasing results, working with Admission Team and liaising with the clinical team to ensure a smooth and safe patient experience. Supporting the MDT team in managing the diagnostic patients and liaising with the coordinators to ensure patients are booked and managed within a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for communicating with patients and their relatives regarding their appointments and admissions details both verbally and in writing.
To assist in the validation and performance management of PTL monitoring, ensuring booking, data recording, clinic and elective admissions outcomes of the patient pathways are proactively managed in order to achieve 18 week targets.
Provide cross cover within the team as and when required.
Work flexible hours as required by the needs of the service.
Ensure full compliance with the Trusts waiting list policy in line with the national 18-week target.
Follow Trust escalation policy if patients require cancellation.
Ensure all paperwork is filed in the patient's notes as per Trust policy.
Train other staff members as required in the role.
Proactively manage workload and amend practices, within remit, to improve the processes and patient experience.
To work as part of a team alongside other clerical staff within the department and to be part of a wider multidisciplinary team delivering a high quality service to other staff and patients. This includes working with identified external contacts and stakeholders.
