You will be providing high-quality, personalised care to a child with complex medical needs, including tracheostomy and ventilation management, through overnight support at home. Your main responsibilities will include delivering safe, effective care as delegated, identifying safeguarding concerns, maintaining competencies in clinical skills, and supporting the child's learning and development alongside their family. Main Responsibilities Deliver safe, effective care to the child in their home as delegated by the Named Nurse. Identify safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate procedures at all times. Maintain competencies in specific clinical skills, including emergency procedures, escalation, and resuscitation. Support the childs learning, development, and wellbeing in partnership with their family and multidisciplinary colleagues. Create a safe, stimulating environment and monitor and record the childs condition, taking action where needed. Communicate effectively with the child, their family, school staff, and clinical professionals, adapting your approach to communication needs. Complete the HCRG Care Certificate within 3 months of starting (if not already held). Attend mandatory training, supervision sessions, and team meetings. Follow infection control, confidentiality, and health and safety procedures consistently. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and contribute to a supportive team cultureIdeal CandidateEssential
Understanding of the impact of caring for children with complex medical needs at home. Ability to support and help train new staff in a variety of settings. Willingness to work towards the experienced to teach section of the Competency Framework. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relate well to children and families.Desirable
NVQ Level 3 in Health or Social Care, or a recognised Nursery Nurse qualification. GCSEs in Maths and English. British Sign Language Level 1 or Makaton. Experience with relevant clinical procedures or technologydependent care. At least 1 year of experience supporting children with complex health needs. At least 1 year working with children in settings such as nurseries, respite care or community services.Other Requirements: A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes are essential.
