Job summary The Relief Kitchen Assistant provides flexible, as-and-when-required support across Jewish Cares care homes, community centres, and campus environments. Working as part of the Catering & Hospitality team, the postholder will assist in delivering high-quality, nutritious, and culturally appropriate meals to residents, tenants, visitors, and staff. The role includes basic food preparation, serving meals and beverages, maintaining clean and hygienic kitchen and dining areas, and supporting the smooth operation of hospitality services. As a relief worker, the postholder will provide cover for staff absence, ensuring continuity of service and maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and customer service across all settings.
Main duties of the job We are seeking a reliable and flexible Relief Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality team. You will support the preparation and service of meals, maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in kitchen and dining areas, and help ensure a positive dining experience for residents and service users. The role involves working across multiple sites on a relief basis, covering shifts as required, including weekends and early starts. The successful candidate will be a team player with good communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high standards of food hygiene and customer service. Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable, and full training will be provided.

Our multi-award-winning organisation is looking to recruit a Relief Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality team. This role may include some weekend working.
The role of Relief Kitchen Assistant will involve the delivery of Hospitality Services within our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres to excellent standards.
This post is for bank/ relief staff working on a casual basis as and when required across our resources in North West London. This will cover Golders Green and Hendon and surrounding areas of Barnet.
The role is to cover absence and hours are not guaranteed. Shifts generally work 7am to 3pm with occasional weekends as and when required.
What you will be doing You will have a key role ensuring we deliver an excellent service to our customers, creating an inviting and pleasant environment. Your core duties will involve:
Basic food preparation including vegetables, salads, and sandwiches Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and presentable environment Preparing and arranging food counters and dining areas, ready for service Serving hot & cold food and beverages Operating the till and cashing up when required Who are we looking for? You will ideally have previous experience working within a busy kitchen environment, working both independently and within a team. You will need:
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to undertake this qualification) Great communication skills, confident speaking to a range of people Good literacy and numeracy skills Willing to undertake appropriate training (e.g., Supervision, NVQ Training)
