Job summary

MPFT are delighted to offer the opportunity to work as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist within The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's Pain Management Service. This service is integral to patient recovery, functioning as a key element of perioperative care, non-surgical treatment pathways, and complex rehabilitation. The Psychologist will be a valued and integral member of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with the Consultant Psychologist.

The service are seeking an enthusiastic clinician who is keen to work in a physical health setting, and who is committed to multidisciplinary collaboration and delivering high-quality care.

In the role you will be well supported by MPFT's large network of Psychologists and psychological practitioners, and in particular you will join a growing group of Psychologists in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Care Group working into physical health settings.

Main duties of the job

o Delivery of specialist psychological input into the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) Complex Pain service.o To carry a highly specialist clinical caseload of clients with complex and enduring chronic pain.o Provision of professional advice and consultation regarding psychological practice in relation to the management of complex pain.o To provide clinical supervision and support to Pain Management multi-disciplinary health professionals.o Development and delivery of research, audit and service evaluation programmes within the field of complex pain management.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Post graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology as accredited by the BPS. Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Post-doctoral training or supervised experience in a specialised area of psychological practice.

Desirable

Further specialist training and experience in physical health psychology, in particular pain services

Experience Essential

Experience of working as a qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, presenting with a full range of severity across outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient and residential settings.

Desirable

Experience of working as a Psychologist in a physical health setting
