If so, then we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our forward thinking and committed Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust based across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.

Our services are uniquely integrated with all other Community Services within our geographical patch, ensuring that the patient is at the core of the care delivery. All Nursing and AHP services are co-located and sat within the same portfolio ensuring a comprehensive, supportive, collaborative leadership structure which you will contribute to and be a part of.

Main duties of the job

This role carries a responsibility to ensure clinical best practice is being informed and delivered in the Musculoskeletal Service. It is the key link between Musculoskeletal Services and all other system partners including wider MPFT colleagues, PCN, ICB and the acute providers.

You will be an integral part of the Leadership Team, which is multi-professional and collaborative, with clear objectives. We seek a like-minded individual who is forward thinking, innovative and keen to openly work with colleagues striving to move our Musculoskeletal Services forward as one.

Job description Job responsibilities

You will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist services, providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers.

You will be practising autonomously as an advanced practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice.

This is underpinned by a masters level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of advanced clinical practice; leadership and management, education, clinical and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

To work as the Clinical Lead for MSK Services within Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, this will include the delivery of advanced MSK patient assessment and diagnosis for a highly complex clinical caseload covering adult patients. This may involve a range of complex clinical undifferentiated or diagnosed conditions using an advanced scope of practice.

You will have supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate as the Clinical Lead for Musculoskeletal Services and will have some responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements and demonstrate initiative and creativity in finding solutions to problems. You will support and oversee excellent MSK practice through mentorship and day-to-day guidance to team members and other professionals.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING Essential

Professional Qualification and Registration as a Physiotherapist Masters level award or equivalent or willingness to work towards Post Graduate Leadership Qualification/relevant experience

Desirable

Relevant validated clinical courses e.g. University accredited modules Evidence of teaching at a multi-professional level. To have or be working towards an Advanced Clinical Practitioner Qualification. Teaching or mentoring qualifications

EXPERIENCE Essential

Able to demonstrate having worked in an autonomous expert role utilising clinical assessment skills in highly complex situations Experience of engaging in research Experience of leading clinical audit / evaluation Extensive clinical and leadership experience within a community rehabilitation setting Experience of using Quality Improvement methodologies. Supervisory skills Experience of supervising therapists Recent experience of designed and delivered teaching or education packages to service users, carers and health care staff

Desirable

Previous work at Regional or National level

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Essential

Highly advanced knowledge in Physical examination, assessment and ability to identify 'red flags' Sound understanding of care delivery in the NHS, priorities, pressures and strategy Extensive knowledge of delivery methods and approaches. High level clinical assessment, examination, investigation and diagnostic skills Able to produce high quality reports, policies and protocols High quality record keeping Ability to influence, initiate and manage change Ability to make critical judgements and decisions without policies or guidelines and without referring to a supervisor Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to process and share highly complex information in a confidential manner Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent analytic skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Desirable

Demonstrate the application of advanced clinical practice skills and knowledge Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP).
