Job summary
The post holder will be based in the Dermatology Department based in the Prosser White Dermatology Unit at Leigh Infirmary. The postholder will actively contribute to the delivery of the Dermatology service for the acute service at Leigh Infirmary. The post holder will act as Clinical Supervisor for two GPST2 doctors training on the department and be expected to play a full part in complying with all aspects of clinical governance.
A 12 month fixed term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.
Main duties of the job
The Specialty Doctor will participate in the provision of outpatient clinics at Leigh Infirmary.
Additionally to cover for the occasional brief absence of colleagues as far as is practicable in cases of occasional emergency or in unforeseen circumstances without additional remuneration. Sick colleagues will normally be covered for short periods of absence and then only during the standard working day. (DS 378/75 and Conditions of Service 110 (b) and (d) refer).
o Generally responsible for general dermatology out-patient clinics in a consultant-led secondary care service.
o Clinical Supervisor to two GPST2 doctors attached to the dermatology department, including a monthly tutorial with each trainee.
o The post holder will carry out two outpatient clinics a week. The post holder would be expected to be reasonably flexible in their availability to the nurses, to provide advice, this would be reflected in the agreed job plan.
