Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our supportive and forward-thinking team, helping to promote and facilitate effective communication for all.
This role involves delivering speech and language therapy services across primary and secondary mainstream schools and resource bases on the Fylde Coast, supporting children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will also contribute to a bi-monthly transdisciplinary early years triage panel to allocate and coordinate services across multiple agencies.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will bring knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs, including neurodivergent individuals.
Working collaboratively with wider multidisciplinary teams, you will support the implementation of universal best practice within educational settings. The role includes direct intervention as well as working through others to ensure children and young people are supported to achieve their full potential.

Core responsibilities.
To provide speech, language and communication services to children as a member of the Education team:
As part of a team, provide a speech, language and communication services to children attending schools, directly and through support to their families and the multi-disciplinary teamSupport the assessment of pupils speech, language and communication skills in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team and SLTsKeep accurate records Undertake work which supports children to achieve therapy targets and monitor progressProvide intervention on an individual or group basis as required Deliver and demonstrate SLT programmes and groups for pupils, under the guidance of SLTs
Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service
Generally as a Communicate SLT team member
Access supervision within the team via regular meetings, group supervision, mentoring and appraisals Be committed to continuing your professional development and gaining wider experience and expertise through training and support Contribute to the development and delivery of trainingContribute to the evaluation and monitoring of services and Social Value measurement
Person Specification
Skills Essential
Excellent communication skills. Coaching ethos.

Drivers licence and car.
Qualifications Essential
English and Maths GSCE or equivalent. Level 3 in education related course.

Experience Essential
Experience of communicating with children who have Speech, Language and Communi-cation Needs and their families. Experience working within schools and as part of a Multi-agency team. Experience of using Microsoft office, including Outlook, Teams.
Desirable
3 or more years experience working with children with special educational needs. Experience in working alongside a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) or implementing programmes. Experience of using AAC including signing and Communication Boards.
