Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our supportive and forward-thinking team, helping to promote and facilitate effective communication for all.
This role involves delivering speech and language therapy services across mainstream schools and resource bases on the Fylde Coast, supporting children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The successful candidate will bring knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs, including neurodivergent individuals.
Main duties of the job
Working collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will support the implementation of universal best practice within educational settings. The role includes direct intervention as well as working through others to ensure children and young people are supported to achieve their full potential.

Core responsibilities
To provide a speech and language therapy services to children, directly and through support to their families and the multi-disciplinary team.Provide speech, language and communication assessments for pupils / prospective pupils in consultation with the multi- disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs.Keep accurate records and provide written reports.Set targets for therapy and monitor progress.Provide intervention on an individual or group basis as required.Develop and demonstrate SLT programmes and groups for pupils.Hold responsibility for own caseload, working without direct supervision.Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service
To liaise with other involved agencies and with families to provide an integrated service.
Work as a key member of the team which involves participation in:

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience working with children with special educational needs. Experience working with children and young people with an ASD diagnosis.
Desirable
Experience working within schools and as part of a Multi-agency team. 2+ years experience working as an SLT with children, young people, their families.
Qualifications Essential
Speech and Language Therapy Degree or Masters
Desirable
Completed Newly Qualified Professional competencies. Training relevant to client group e.g. Elklan, Intensive Interaction
Skills Essential
Excellent communication skills. A coaching ethos.
Desirable
IT literate and competent with MS Office systems. Drivers licence and car.
