About this role
Job summary
These opportunities have arisen following a recent recruitment campaign in April, which saw a number of colleagues progress and step into new roles across the People Directorate. Alongside this internal movement, these posts also provide important cover for maternity leave and fixed-term secondments within our teams.
July 2026 marks a significant point for our People Directorate. After navigating a period of real change and challenge, we can now see how our teams are coming together, and we are looking to strengthen them further with the same care and intention that has shaped our recent progress.
These are 12-month fixed-term opportunities, offering the chance to step quickly into high-impact roles and provide immediate support to busy clinical and corporate services. They are designed to maintain continuity and momentum during a period of ongoing change, whilst also offering valuable development and exposure within a large and evolving People function where progression is actively supported.
Following approval, we are now recruiting to three Senior People Advisor roles across our teams and ask that you indicate your preferred post(s) within your supporting statement.
* Band 6 Senior People Advisor- 12-month fixed term - 27.5 hours a week- Corporate Team
* Band 6 Senior People Advisor- 12-month fixed term - 37.50 hours a week- QE People Team
* Band 6 Senior People Advisor- 12-month fixed term - 37.50 hours a week- Heartlands Team
Main duties of the job
These roles form part of the natural movement within our service, where colleague development, secondments and maternity leave create opportunities for others to step in, grow and contribute. For the right individuals, this is a chance to build experience, visibility and capability within a complex and fast-paced NHS environment.
You will thrive in these roles if you are able to recognise patterns where others see noise, ask difficult questions with compassion, and bring clarity, structure and calm to complex situations. You will understand the balance between urgency and importance and be motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to staff experience.
Whichever of the three posts you are considering, the core expectation is the same: you will be someone colleagues turn to when things are tough, complex or sensitive. You will lead on challenging employee relations matters, support leaders through difficult workforce and cultural issues, and use insight and evidence to influence decision-making. You will build trusted relationships across clinical and non-clinical areas and bring both professional judgement and humanity to your work, helping to create the conditions for improved staff and patient outcomes.
You will be visible, respected and, at times, relied upon. Just as importantly, you will be supported by an experienced AD of People and a directorate of specialist colleagues who understand the realities of delivering HR in today's NHS.
