Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the diverse London borough of Tower Hamlets.
The post is based at the Isle of Dogs Neighbourhood Mental Health Team (NMHT). The service base is very central to the borough with good bus and Tube connections, based in the Isle of Dogs, E14.
We are looking for an enthusiastic psychiatrist, with experience in General Adult Psychiatry as SAS level to join the team and the mental health services in the borough.
It is a LTFT role, at 0.6wte (there is no flexibility to increase)
Main duties of the job
5 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care. The Specialty Doctor will work under the supervision of the consultant. They will:
Work within a multidisciplinary setting offering psychiatric-medical input in the assessment, treatment and care management of the patients.
Will adhere to the clinical lead model of service and principle of holistic care.
Provide appropriate cross-cover for colleagues.
Adhere to all service conditions and local policies.
Clinical work will mainly entail comprehensive medical assessments that include history taking, mental and physical evaluation, and biopsychosocial formulations.

Job description Job responsibilities
The Specialty Doctor will share the medical input for the team for with the Consultant Psychiatrists, working under clinical supervision. The post holder will be expected to screen referrals, contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, correspond with referrers, colleagues and other involved professionals and conduct psychiatric reviews and chair CPAs of community patients.
Specific administrative support is provided for preparation of GP correspondence, tribunal reports, and other documentation.

MB BS or equivalent GMC registration

Section 12 approval Higher degree relevant to the work MRCPsych exam(s)
Clinical expereince Essential
Minimum 4years clinical experience with 2yrs practicing at CT1-3 equivalent grade or higher and adult psychiatry experience Experience working in general adult psychiatry Significant experience in MDT working Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act Experience working in both community and inpatient settings in Mental Health Psychopharmacology knowledge relevant to the post
