Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated and passionate Acute Care Pathway Nurse Advisor to work alongside senior managers, nurses, case managers and service users to help deliver our collective ambitions and aims for CAMHS services across North Central and East London.

The North Central and East London Collaborative (NCEL PC) is formed of four mental health trusts; East London Foundation Trust (lead provider), North London Foundation Trust, Whittington Health NHS Trust and North East London Foundation Trust.

This is an opportunity to work as a part of the team delivering our Provider Collaboratives vision for transforming how Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Tier 4 services are commissioned and delivered across North Central and East London

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be one of the CAMHS Acute Care Pathway Nurse Advisors for the collaborative working within the CAMHS Acute Care Pathway Service. Working collaboratively, the postholder will support the on-going development, implementation and monitoring of the CAMHS Acute Care Pathway service that will offer consultation, training and support where clinicians are seeking support with the management of complex presentations primarily within hospitals settings but there may be occasions where the post holder will need to work outside of these settings.

This postholder will cover either the North East London (NEL) or the North Central London (NCL) footprint and in exceptional circumstance there may need to work across both depending on the needs of the service. The post holder will liaise with stakeholders across the NCEL footprint. The role will support the NCEL work programme by actively engaging with healthcare professionals to promote clinical engagement and involvement in commissioning and contracting for improvement of care and patient experience.

Person Specification

education and qualiofications Essential

Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse Current NMC registration Mentorship Qualification

Desirable

Evidence of post qualification study and personal development (e.g. Advanced nurse practitioner, PBS trainer).

Knowledge and experience Essential

Significant experience of working within a CAMHS PICU inpatient setting or other relevant setting. Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) models or others clinical models for managing behaviours that challenge Senior clinical experience in the assessment and management of complex issues in CAMHS setting such as challenging behavior, dynamics etc. Experience of setting therapeutic boundaries with patients who exhibit extreme challenging and high-risk behaviours that require advanced interventions to enable effective de-escalation. Experience of teaching staff advanced skills in setting boundaries, de-escalation and diffusion techniques. Able to communicate complex and sensitive issues to a range of audiences around behavioural management for young people with significant behaviour that challenges and/or mental health problems Able to facilitate multidisciplinary debriefing, critical analysis meetings
