Job summary
CDDFT Podiatry Department are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Podiatrist to join our diverse team, which covers 6 localities. The position is suitable for both experienced and newly qualified applicants. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to complete work based competencies specific to the job and will be assigned a dedicated mentor. The successful applicants would be based in our multi chair clinic in Darlington.
Main duties of the job
Work as a qualified clinician across the three core teams with the main emphasis being on:
General Podiatry
Specialised Podiatry Services
Observe and promote the Trusts values and behaviours
Provides podiatric advice to patients and carers
Assesses and treats patients within the team caseload which includes adults and paediatrics, self-referrals from patients and referrals from other disciplines
Participate in the training of junior / less experienced staff and students
Participate in service transformation activity with a view to continuous service improvement and value for money

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

To be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care for patients within a team caseload
To provide appropriate podiatric health education to patients and carers
To ensure that all interventions are designed using, where possible, evidence based practice and to evaluate outcomes
To work across acute, community and primary health care sectors as part of a multidisciplinary team with direct input to patient care providing advice to patients and carers
To be responsible for the maintenance of their own documentation for patient records, reports and audits.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, including persuasive and reassurance skills which are essential in the effective communication of complex and sensitive information to patients and in communication with other health care professionals. Graduation from a School of Podiatric Medicine Under graduate experience of a broad range of podiatric conditions
