As a Senior Medical Secretary/Waiting List Officer, you will be a highly valued member of the Medicine Division, providing comprehensive and proactive secretarial support to Consultant-led teams. You will act as a point of contact for clinicians, patients and external agencies, ensuring high standards of communication, organisation and professionalism at all times.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive and effective secretarial, waiting list and administrative service to a consultant(s) and their medical team.
To administrate waiting lists and organise patient day case admissions.
To undertake the audiotyping of clinical and non-clinical correspondence within their specialty area.
Responsible for escalation and overdue results
The post-holder will be required to use systems such as Patient Centre, Advantis, Pathway Monitoring System (PMS) and the Big Hand Digital Dictation System.
You are expected to work with minimal supervision, and work to tight deadlines, which can cause pressure, also exercising sound judgement and decision-making skills.
There will be a requirement to cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
