To the assist medical personnel in the care of Practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality patient care independently and alongside GPs, following agreed protocolsUndertake general and condition-specific health screenings, referring to GPs or Nurse Manager where requiredManage and support patients with long-term conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD, CHD, hypertension, stroke/TIA, contraception)Perform routine clinical tasks including wound care, spirometry, and peak flow readingsAdminister routine and childhood immunisations in line with national guidelinesCollect and handle pathological specimens (e.g. blood samples, swabs, cervical smears) ensuring equipment cleanlinessCarry out investigatory procedures as requested by GPsMaintain, clean, and prepare clinical equipment and nurse treatment rooms, ensuring adequate stock rotationAssist with vaccine ordering and stock managementProvide chaperoning support and assist patients during examinationsIdentify and report potential issues or errors to the Nurse ManagerAttend practice meetings and contribute to team workingUndertake home visits when requiredCarry out any other delegated duties appropriate to the role

A friendly, successful and well organised practice are looking to seek an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to share our commitment in delivering high quality services to our patients. Bowling Highfield Medical Practice is a practice offering care to nearly 15,000 patients across 2 sites within BD4. Our patients will attend clinics either at Highfield Medical Centre (BD4 9QA) or Bowling Medical Centre (BD4 7SS). The practice is known for its strong commitment to teaching and learning and is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to further their career in a forward-thinking practice. The practice serves the BD4 Community, it is a deprived part of Bradford and serves a diverse community. Our staff really care about our patients and find the varied range of medical needs means there is never two shifts the same.
The practice has recently been awarded a Good rating from CQC. The team is made up of 5 GP Partners, 8 Salaried GPs, ANP, Pharmacists, Nursing Team, HCA and Phlebotomy Team, Clinical Admin team, Patient Services Team and Management Team. The practice also hold clinics for Community/PCN roles including Midwives, First Contact Physiotherapist, Mental Health Practitioner and Social Prescribers. It also has close links to the local community and Voluntary Sector Organisations offering mental health and services to support wider social needs of our patients.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Practice Nurse who is confident in delivering high-quality patient care in line with agreed protocols, both independently and alongside GPs. You should have experience in managing long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, coronary heart disease, hypertension, and stroke/TIA, as well as providing routine health screenings and immunisations, including childhood vaccinations. The role requires competency in undertaking clinical procedures such as wound care, spirometry, peak flow readings, cervical smears, and the collection of pathological specimens, including blood samples and swabs. You will also be responsible for maintaining clinical equipment and environments, managing stock and vaccine supplies, supporting infection control standards, and assisting with patient care tasks such as chaperoning and home visits. You should demonstrate strong organisational skills, a proactive approach to identifying issues, and the ability to work collaboratively within the practice team while supporting the ongoing delivery of safe and effective patient care.
