We are recruiting for the Sept 26 and Jan 27 intake for Health Visitor and School Nurse students.

The course is full time for one year and will commence in Sept 26 or Jan 27 and comprises of 50% academic and 50% clinical placement in accordance with the University and Trust regulations. It is fully funded and salaried. You will be sponsored by Whittington Health and secure a place at City University, Kings University or HERTS University to complete their PG level ( 7) in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing and qualify as a Health Visitor or School Nurse.

Course requirement for entry applicants will need to show evidence of study at level 7 and have 2:2 or higher.

You will have a 12 month fixed term contract.

This post is subject to standard recruitment processes. Successful candidates must be available to commence the course in Sept 26 or Jan 27 on the start date.

Main duties of the job

Whittington Health are offering an exciting opportunity to qualified nurses and midwives with NMC registration to become part of our progressive, innovative and integrated Health Visiting Service in Barnet

The Health Visitor/ School Nurse play a pivotal role in supporting the development of the child and family, with key principles in public health nursing.

They are part of a wider integrated multi disciplinary service for children in the Boroughs with a focus on public health Delivering the healthy child programme to diverse communities. Developing programmes of early intervention and prevention, Reducing health inequalities Addressing health disparities Fostering equal access to health care Discussion health promotion like infant feeding topics Support children and young people to reach their developmental milestones

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications Essential

Current NMC Registration for nursing or midwifery Nursing / Midwifery Degree/ Post Grad Diploma/ DipHE qualification equivalent to 120 credits at level 6 (of the Higher Education Credit Framework for England) or evidence of previous education and learning to this level. Evidence of level 7 training/learning within last 5 years. Qualification 2:2 or above,

Knowledge & Experience Essential

Knowledge of the Public Health role of contemporary health visiting/school nursing & working in community settings o1 year + post registration experience Knowledge of local and national policies which influence the provision of health visiting /school nursing Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams Current knowledge of safeguarding issues

Desirable

Evidence of involvement in the management of difficult situations and conflict resolution

Skills and Abilities Essential

Evidence of academic ability to study independently at degree or postgraduate level Good computer literacy skills e.g. Microsoft word, excel Demonstrate knowledge of research - based practice

Desirable

Evidence of supporting equality and valuing diversity in own practice Demonstrate ability to adapt to working within a changing environment Have a flexible approach to team and autonomous working, acknowledging own limitations
