There are exciting opportunities that have arisen to join our Recovery Department and new ECU unit as a Band 6 Deputy Team Leaders

Ashford Recovery offers post-operative care for 10 theatres and also covers Enhanced Care Unit.

Applications are welcome from Registered Nurses/ODP's to join our friendly busy Theatre Recovery team.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of the senior team providing support and clinical expertise in immediate post-operative period and during day/night cover for our enhanced care unit which is a nurse lead unit with on call anaesthetic support during night. You will follow escalation pathway to ensure that our patients are getting enhanced care within Level 1.5 unit.

Job description Job responsibilities

You should have an excellent all around knowledge and skill to cover advanced post anaesthetic care of the patients. Level 1/Level 2 Critical Care development training is either already obtained or willing to develop to effective management of patients out of hours.

Applicants must have a level of management skills including time management, prioritization and organizational skills and the ambition to develop themselves and others. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong belief in providing the best patient centred care possible. You will be expected to help maintain high standards of practice and act as a role model to your team.

Main Recovery unit is open from 0800 to 1900 Monday to Friday and ECU is open 24 hours Monday to Friday. Shift patterns comprising of mixture of Long day/Nights and regular day shift when ECU is closed.

Nurse lead discharge assessment such as respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neuro, pain management, gastrointestinal, skin assessment and VTE Prophylaxis to meet the safe discharge criteria. Supports learning and development of self and others Supports and promotes equality and diversity

Qualifications Essential

Specialist knowledge, skills and competence in PACU/Recovery, Specialist knowledge, skills and competence in emergency patient care

Experience of staff supervision and training
